Christmas at the Children's Home

Download HomeNews - December 2019

One of the great challenges we all face at Christmas is finding the perfect gift. We try to guess what the person would like. We consider their hobbies and interests, clothes they might want, or something they really need. Just when we think that we have found that perfect gift, we second guess ourselves and change our minds. Some of us just ask the person what they would like for Christmas. When they refuse to tell us, we return to the search for that perfect gift.

Christmas is actually about the perfect gift. God knew exactly what we needed. He knew what would bless us beyond measure. He gave us a gift that would last for all time. He gave us Jesus. In Christ we find the perfect gift that expresses God's mercy and grace. It's a gift that shows us how much God loves us and cares for us. Jesus is the perfect Christmas gift.

Christmas at the Children's Home is incredible. We are busy with open house, lawn-sized cottage Christmas cards, a special Christmas worship service, our staff banquet, and, of course, gifts for the children. But the best thing about Christmas at LBCH is telling the children about God's great gift in Christ. For many of them, it is the first time that they have heard the true story of Christmas. For others, Christmas is the time when they accept Jesus as their Savior. Yes, Christmas is a very special time here at the Children's Home.

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to share God's love with children and families in need. Because of your faithful and generous support, we are able to bring help for today and hope for tomorrow. I do pray that you and your family enjoy a blessed Christmas. As you shop for that perfect gift, remember God's perfect gift in Christ. Merry Christmas!
