Feazel Cottage

Faith and Steven Smith

Feazel Cottage Wish List ➔

For Steven and Faith Smith, becoming cottage parents wasn't just a career move—it was the fulfillment of a calling rooted in their shared heart for missions. After eight years of marriage and international mission work in Russia, they found themselves still longing for a deeper way to serve. When Faith's parents, who were already serving at the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, introduced them to the ministry, it felt like the next step in God's plan. That step turned into a lifelong mission of love, and in 2025 they celebrate an incredible 24 years of service at LBCH.

Their path to this work took them across the globe and back. From mission fields in post-Soviet Russia in the early 1990s to working together in a health food store in Colorado, Steven and Faith learned how to live out their faith in action. But nothing could have prepared them for the blessings and challenges that would come with opening their hearts and home to dozens of children over the years.

Over the years, the Smiths have provided care and love to well over 160 children, many of whom still keep in touch. Some have gone on to serve in the military, build strong families, and live lives of purpose. Others, who once seemed distant or withdrawn, have returned years later to share how their time at Feazel Cottage helped change the course of their lives. These stories affirm what Steven and Faith always hoped to offer: a home full of love, structure, and the unmistakable presence of Jesus.

Among the most cherished chapters in their journey has been the adoption of two boys who forever changed their lives. Becoming their parents is one of their proudest and most treasured blessings—proof that God knits together families in beautiful and unexpected ways.

If they could say one thing to every child they've cared for, it would be this: "We pray that you know you are loved." And more than anything, they hope each child leaves Feazel Cottage having seen and felt the love of Christ through them—that no matter what happens in life, He is always there.

Steven and Faith still hear from many former residents. One girl in particular has never missed a single Mother's Day in all these years, faithfully reaching out to remind Faith just how deeply she was loved.

After more than two decades of faithful service, Steven and Faith continue to live out their calling with the same mission-hearted devotion that brought them here. Their lives—and Feazel Cottage—stand as a living testimony to the healing, transforming, and unconditional love of Jesus Christ.
